Rome’s chief rabbi Riccardo Di Segni has criticized the Vatican’s new interreligious document. The document claims that God’s covenant with the Jewish people has not been revoked, recognizes contemporary Judaism as theologically significant and rejects antisemitism. It only rules out two parallel paths to salvation: Christ is the one Redeemer. Di Segni raises objections on both points. On salvation, he asks what the doctrine of one Redeemer implies for Jews and warns against any "pressure" for conversion. His main criticism, however, concerns an omission: the word Israel is absent. By Israel he does not mean only the modern state, but Israel as people, history, identity and relationship with a land [=state]. He argues that Judaism cannot be understood as religion alone.
A Canadian woman says suicide was presented to her before she had even seen an oncologist. On September 22, Laura Ingraham interviewed Kristin Logan, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer in 2023. While waiting in British Columbia for contact with an oncology team, Logan was sent information about MAID — Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying program. She says assisted death was presented as an option before she had even met the specialists who would treat her cancer. As her condition worsened amid delays, Logan and her husband went to the United States for treatment. She was told three years ago she would not live another two years. Today, she is alive and in remission. The medical care in the USA was “outstanding.”

More than two dozen schools are participating in the voluntary trial, which will help refine the curriculum before wider implementation. The draft includes significant changes to sexual-health education: In Grade 3, children (8–9 years old) learn about gender identities, including non-binary. In Grade 5, the curriculum introduces masturbation and different sexual and romantic attractions. By Grade 7, students (12–13 years old) are taught about vaginal, oral and anal "sex". Grade 8 covers abortion as a pregnancy option alongside parenting and adoption.
Leo XIV claims that Christ founded a “religious movement” - in direct contradiction to Church teaching and the Gospel. The recently published document The Path of Hope was signed by the heads of three Vatican dicasteries and approved by Leo XIV on 22 June. It states in §10: “Early Christianity developed from the movement initiated by Jesus and his disciples, distinguishing itself from the various forms of Judaism over time.” That’s the liberal Protestant view associated with figures such as Albert Schweitzer. A 2026 study found an interesting link between siblings and teen mental health. Researchers looked at data from 16,725 teenagers in rural China from 2010 to 2022. Teens with more siblings were less likely to show signs of depression, with an even stronger effect among younger teens. Cardinal Müller called for a return to true masculinity based on courage, sacrifice and responsibility. Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller joined the Pilgrimage of Men with Families to the Shrine of the First Martyrs of Poland in Międzyrzecz on September 12, blessing plaques marking the 1,060th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland. Speaking about male fidelity, Müller said: “The world today is trying to redefine masculinity.” He pointed to the Międzyrzecz martyrs as men willing to defend what is sacred to the end, defining a “true man” as one “who builds on a firm foundation and is capable of suffering for higher values.” The martyrs, robbed and murdered at night († 1003) in their monastery, were ordinary flesh-and-blood men, not legendary heroes, Müller said.
